i'm still here!

Hello, friends!

I know it has been f-o-r-e-v-e-r since I last posted, and I have some pretty big life updates: I moved back to the U.S., started a new job the very next day, and have been moving my things from Texas and New York to Delaware since then. I'm pretty much settled into my new place, and have begun figuring out my new job as well. Life has been busy and full over the past two months, and I'm still figuring out how to focus this blog from now on. Originally, I began it to tell my students' stories and share the lighthearted side of teaching that often gets ignored in the educational reform movement. When I moved to Costa Rica, I used it to keep track of my experiences living abroad. Although I have plenty of student stories and tales from living outside of the U.S. saved up that I still want to record, now that I am neither living in Costa Rica nor teaching, I am wondering what direction I will take here after I've told those stories. The name of this blog, "Lessons From La Frontera," means "Lessons From the Border." While initially that referred to the U.S.-Mexican border, where I was living at the time, maybe now it will refer to the fronteras I am now crossing that we all encounter at different times in our lives. Whatever I decide, I will keep you updated.

Have a lovely weekend!
